I had just immigrated to the United States. It was my first day in Typewriter I make stuff up shirt. I was excited. New country, new school, new friends. But I was also very conscious. I didn’t know what people would think of me. I spoke very good English, a bit of a British accent even though I was from Nigeria. I noticed that many people talked about her, and not in a good way. The students would say they hated her or didn’t like her. It seemed like I was the only person who liked her in the whole school. She had the effrontery to ask me again.
What the fuck are on my feet? Plastic wraps? I wasn’t even Typewriter I make stuff up shirt. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I managed to say no. I was so embarrassed that day. How can someone who is tasked with educating young minds to say something so ignorant and stupid? A few months later, I got into a serious relationship with a nice guy. We were in our honeymoon phase and understandably spending a lot of time together. Whenever he called while I was with her, she will make a loud noise so I can’t talk to him or she will snatch my phone to tell him that he can’t speak to me because I am with her. All of us laughed it off.
